Bogotá - The Colombian capital is emerging as one of the key venues for the Pan American Electronic Sports Cup in 2026, following an evaluation process led by the Pan American Electronic Sports Confederation (PAMESCO) and the Colombian Electronic Sports Federation (FEDECOLDE), with the support of the Invest in Bogotá Convention Bureau.

At a meeting held on February 24, leaders of the aforementioned organizations confirmed their intention to hold the competition in Bogotá during the month of October 2026. Between 500 and 600 people are expected to attend, including athletes, casters, technical delegates, judges, managers and other special guests. As part of the planning process, a technical visit to the city's sports venues and hotels has already been carried out, ensuring that the facilities meet the necessary standards to offer a high-level experience to participants and spectators.

The event in Bogotá is part of a competitive circuit that will also include Brazil in 2026 and Mexico and the United States in 2027. During the E-sports Summit in Brazil, scheduled for the end of March this year, the franchises and video games that will be the pillars of the competition will be announced.

The rise of e-sports in Latin America has generated significant growth in audiences and investment in the industry. According to data from Statista, the region has more than 260 million players, and the video game market in Latin America is expected to reach a value of 3.6 billion dollars in 2023. In addition, the e-sports audience in the region could exceed 122 million viewers by 2024, reflecting a growth of 20% in less than five years. Games like Fortnite, League of Legends, Valorant, and Overwatch have reached streaming viewing levels that surpass many traditional sporting events. This phenomenon highlights the importance of promoting initiatives that allow professional players to not only represent their communities in a competitive environment, but also generate income and turn their passion into a sustainable career.

With this initiative, Bogotá seeks to establish itself as an epicenter of electronic sports, promoting the professionalization of the sector and attracting new opportunities for the industry in the region.
